The Infiniti QX50 (previously Infiniti EX) is a small SUV that is designed to look sporty despite its high riding body. Engine choices are Infiniti's 3.0 and 3.7-litre diesel engines. Both are connected to seven-speed automatic gearboxes. There's very little on the options list, as the car is very well equipped. The Infiniti QX50 drives well too, and is very comfortable. The design is a blend of coupe and SUV, and looks interesting.

If fuel consumption isn’t an issue, the Infiniti QX70 (previously Infiniti FX) is worth a look. Offering a much more car-like design than a Land Rover Discovery, the Infiniti QX70 can be had with a 3.0-litre diesel, or 3.7-litre V6 or 5.0-litre V8. All models come with seven-speed automatic gearboxes and four-wheel drive, and feature lots of safety and luxury equipment as standard. The Infiniti QX70 is refined but the ride is overly harsh, particularly on cars with larger wheels, fuel bills are likely to be high and the interior is smaller than you’d expect.

The Infiniti G range is equivalent to the BMW 3 Series. The G37 saloon, G Coupe and G Convertible are currently only available with a 3.7-litre V6 petrol engine, although a V6 diesel is due in the saloon later this year. All models feature very high standard specs, including climate control, cruise control and parking sensors, but prices reflect this. The driving experience isn’t quite up to BMW standards, and running costs are high, but buyers will have rarity on their sides.
